Are you an experienced family worker looking for a new role to broaden your skills? Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and their families in your community?

This part-time position supports our mission by providing support to young people aged 12 to 15 years and their families, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, targeting conflict resolution and improved relationships within families. This position contributes to the facilitation of The Ruby’s Reunification Program, which supports young people and their families in rebuilding relationships and staying connected. It aims to keep young people out of the child protection and homelessness systems.

This position requires you to work across a 24/7 shift work roster, including sleepover shifts. Penalties and allowances apply.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A Cert IV in Youth Work or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Experience providing safe and appropriate accommodation and support to young people and respond to their needs by providing supervision, emotional support, social and living skills development, conflict resolution.
  • The ability to engage with young people and their families in line with Ruby’s Principles, Theories and Key Practices, facilitating harmonious relationships by modelling appropriate behavior.
  • The ability to support young people in achieving their defined goals established with the counsellor, house manager, and their families.
  • Experience working holistically with vulnerable young people and their families, building trusting relationships and delivering solution focused crisis and brief interventions.
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of others.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19.
