We are seeking two dedicated Aboriginal Family Preservation Caseworkers to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children, young people, and families.

Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation provides foster care, youth and family support services to Aboriginal children & young people and their families in the Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings, Manning, Armidale, and Tamworth Regions.

Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation is one of the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in NSW.

We are now recruiting for an experienced people to join our multidisciplinary team and work within a supportive community focused organisation.

This opportunity would suit someone with the relevant background and experience who is looking for a role in Taree NSW.

About the Role

As an Aboriginal Family Preservation Caseworker, you will work closely with Aboriginal families to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based support. Your role will focus on preventing child removal, promoting family reunification, and empowering families to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with Aboriginal families and communities.
  • Deliver intensive, in-home support to families at risk of child protection intervention.
  • Collaborate with community organisations, Elders, and service providers.
  • Advocate for culturally appropriate services and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to care planning.

About You

  • Must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, kinship systems, and community dynamics.
  • Experience in child protection, family support, or community services.
  • Effective communication, advocacy, and critical thinking skills.
  • Commitment to cultural safety and self-determination.
