Latrobe Valley Village (LVV) is a community owned not-for-profit organisation with a proud 50-year history of excellence and compassionate support for residents. It has 52 Independent Living Units and a 96 bed Residential Care Hostel, incorporating a 17-bed dementia-specific wing.
As CEO, you will work closely with the board in refining and implementing the strategic and operational plans to ensure ongoing viability, prioritising at all times the enhancement of outcomes for residents and their families.

Position Profile
The position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the senior management position in the Latrobe Valley Village Aged Care Facility (LVV) which is comprised of 52 Independent Living Units and a residential Hostel of 96 beds including a 17 bed Dementia ward. A staff of over 150, mostly part-time as is common in this Industry sector, includes Registered and Enrolled nurses and Care Support Staff as well as Catering and Maintenance.
LVV is in residential Newborough near the city of Moe in the Latrobe Valley area of Gippsland, 150 Km East of Melbourne in Victoria. LVV recently celebrated is 50 years of serving the Community as a not-for-profit Community Aged-Care Facility.
The buildings have been recently renovated and the new wings have an excellent modern appearance. All resident rooms are spacious, with en suite bathrooms. The grounds include well maintained gardens and rest areas. The existing culture of this not-for-profit Community facility has been developed over the years into a home-like family friendly reality.
As a well-qualified and experienced leader, you will drive growth and development in this well reputed Aged Care Facility and lead the organisation into the future.
You will be expected to have earned qualifications in Finance, Management, and relevant experience in management in Aged Care, Health or similar highly regulated services.
Your personal skills and attitudes [DW1] [JB2] will include strong integrity, diplomatic and humane interpersonal communication skills, interest in people and culture, and an ability to be adept in strategic planning and decision making with excellent HR management experience.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of operational plans to ensure ongoing viability and quality outcomes for residents.
She/he acts as a figurehead for the organisation and provides dynamic leadership to ensure the efficient and effective management of human, material, and fiscal resource management according to the strategic plan and budget, regulatory / legislative requirements, and the needs and expectations of residents.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Finance, Health Services Management or similar
- Minimum five (5) years management experience in Aged Care, Health or similar highly regulated services
- Broad knowledge of the Aged Care Industry and Aged Care Act, 1997 requirements
- Provision of a current (within 3 years) Federal Police Check Report
- Provision of Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration – (Residency/Offences) upon commencement.

RESPONSIBLE TO:
- Board of Governance
- This position is directly responsible to the LVV Board of Governance for the effective management of all operations as required by the Board's Strategic Plan, Policies and Objectives.
MAIN DUTIES
The CEO will:
- Work closely with the Board of Governance to lead and manage the high performing aged care service that is dedicated to providing a happy and comfortable lifestyle for residents and a level of health care that is high quality.
- Manage a united team to maintain the financial sustainability of the organisation, ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, and lead the ongoing strong culture and reputation of LVV.
Quality Care and Support
- Ensure that the provision of care at LVV is of the highest standard with due understanding of the "Home-like" culture.
- Ensure that all Safety and Quality systems and processes continue to maintain accreditation by the Australian Government Regulatory Standards.
- Ensure that all relevant risks are effectively managed to support residents, staff and visitors at all times.
- Ensure that the facility always operates at a high level of clinical care and encourages innovation and continuous improvement in safety and care.
- Manage and implement policies on complaints and feedback from residents, families, visitors or representatives with dignity and effective strategies for resolution.
People and Culture
- Demonstrate effective leadership of the senior management team at LVV.
- Ensure that the workplace is safe, healthy and efficient in line with all Occupational health and Safety requirements and regulations.
- Ensure that the workplace has a harmonious culture and that all issues are effectively resolved across the staff, residents, visitors and other community members
- Ensure that staff development is seen as a major professional expectation and offer the necessary support for continuing learning and development.
- Implement Board and Operational policies, including risk management, staff discipline and professional conduct, as well as maintaining records required in People and Culture matters.
Board and Governance
- Support and work with the Board of Governance by establishing collaborative, trusting and responsible relationships with members.
- Assist the Chair and Board members in meeting their fiduciary and regulatory obligations, including maintaining their professional understanding of changes and industry directions.
- Attend and report to regular Board meetings.
- Ensure that the Board is informed and briefed on any changes of relevant policies and regulations.
Financial Management and Responsibility
- Manage the financial obligations according to the Board approved Budget and policies and report on progress and any issues at each Monthly Board meeting.
- Assist all Board members in clearly understanding their financial obligations and duties as Directors.
- Ensure timely and effective communication between the Board, LVV employees and residents, as well as external bodies.
Stakeholder Management
- Maintain and manage relevant external stakeholder contact to ensure government agencies, (at local, federal and State levels) are aware and regularly consulted about LVV's operations and state of work.
- Interact with other aged-care providers and seek cooperation and collaboration of other arrangements in line with the Board's Strategic directions and Government plans for the industry.
- Meet regularly with residents, ILU occupants and staff to ensure open communication and respond to suggestions and improvements in a timely manner.
Property Management and Maintenance
- Ensure that all property across the facility is fully maintained and meets all regulatory standards to offer the highest quality aged care service possible.
- Consult with the Board to strategically plan continued upgrading and improvement of all LVV assets.
