CONTEXT

This position is primarily located at the Richlands Community Centre supporting the Brisbane Southwest Support service (BSWS). The BSWS service is made up of a partnership of four specialised sexual violence support services who share the space at the Richlands Community Centre on a roster system. These services are the Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivor Support Centre (BRISSC), Zig Zag, the Immigrant Women’s Support Service and Murrigunyah.

It is expected that the Outreach Service Administration worker will work 9am – 3.30pm, fortnightly on Wednesdays. This will support workers in the BSWS partnership to attend the outreach service on a Wednesday in accordance with our two worker policy.

FUNDING

This position is employed by the Women’s Community Aid Association (WCAA) and is contingent on recurrent funding from the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General. Should funding be discontinued, employees of the service will be advised with as much notice as possible and obligations under the relevant Award/Agreement/legislation will be fulfilled.

SUMMARY OF ROLE & EXPECTATIONS

The Worker is accountable on a day-to-day level to the BRISSC Collective, and will directly communicate with the BSWS workers.

The Outreach Service Administration worker is expected to work collaboratively and supportively as a member of the Brisbane Southwest Support service. They are expected to exercise high level time management skills, demonstrate initiative and work autonomously where required, implement decisions relevant to areas of responsibility, engage in self-reflective practice and ensure accountability to the BRISSC collective and WCAA.

The worker is expected to engage in peer supervisory processes, annual performance reviews and to be accountable for all aspects of their work at BRISSC/BSWS.

Key Responsibilities

  • General administration duties as identified by the workers who attend the Brisbane Southwest Support Service.
  • Active participation in the setup, ongoing management and updating of a website for the BSWS service.
  • Monitor and respond to correspondence from the website, sending relevant requests, information, news and updates to appropriate persons and filing admin email correspondence.
  • Routinely check and restock office supplies and consumables
  • In collaboration with BSWS partners create a social media presence for the BSWS service and update this as required by the partner services
  • In collaboration with BSWS partners create a Welcome to Service brochure for people engaging with the BSWS service.
  • Demonstrate commitment to principles of access and equity at BSWS and within the broader community.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrate capacity and experience in working with First Nations People, having a demonstrated understanding of some of the complexities First Nations People may present with.
