Senior Family Lawyer

Brigid Justice Ltd

Brigid Justice Ltd. is seeking to engage a part time Senior Family Lawyer (0.5 FTE) on an initial 3 month, fixed term contract (with a view to a longer-term contract). This role may suit for a retired lawyer, or someone towards the end of their career, seeking to work part time and apply their skills to create significant impact in social justice.

A position description is attached.

Salary range - $105,000 to $115,000 per annum (pro-rata) (depending on experience), plus employer funded superannuation. Generous salary packaging as a Not For Profit organisation is available.

About Brigid Justice

Brigid Justice Ltd is a Not for Profit legal practice to help women who have suffered abuse resolve their legal issues, and achieve justice, compensation, and redress. We are a lower fee for service practice, aimed at women who cannot access Legal Aid or afford market priced lawyers. https://www.brigidjustice.org.au/

Brigid Justice is a registered charity, and we were established by and for women survivors of domestic abuse. We offer trauma informed, reasonable cost, coherent, and professional legal advice. We engage our clients with social and psychological support. All our staff are trained in trauma informed practice.

We provide family law services, and also assist with most other legal, debt and victims’ compensation issues that a client may have. We run civil litigation against abusers, including actions to secure the return of money, property, pets, or payment for damaged property. In addition, we sue perpetrators in intentional tort to obtain just compensation (including for injuries, defamation, trespass, fraud, or invasion of privacy).

Our advocacy and law reform work is focused on improving family law processes for victims, and in getting better police and criminal justice responses to domestic violence.

If you have any questions in relation to the role, please contact our Executive Director, Dr Anni Gethin [email protected] using the subject line: Senior Family Lawyer enquiry via EthicalJobs.
