About Bric Housing

Bric Housing is a non-profit community housing organisation that provides secure and affordable homes for people in our community facing disadvantage. Our vision is much bigger than providing a house for our tenants but a home, a place they can build their life and see all the possibilities of their future.

At present we manage 940 tenancies across the inner and outer northern suburbs of Brisbane, as well as Redcliffe and Caboolture. Our enthusiasm and dedication to making a difference has paved the way for exciting plans in our future.

About the role

In our journey to increase the impact we have in our community we are searching for someone that strongly aligns to our core values of diversity, excellence, integrity, respect, safety & well-being.

As the Housing and Community Officer, you will engage and support Bric tenants in their homes empowering them to live independently with or without supports, creating a cohesive community through community engagement activities. Using first class customer service and communication skills to build high trust and rapport with our tenants, neighbouring community, and support partners.

With your positive attitude, housing and community skills, and experience with Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation (RTRA) legislation, you will effectively manage tenants to sustain their tenancy successfully, maximising tenants income through application of rent reviews, minimising rent and non-rent debt, conducting property inspections to ensure good property care, developing and implementing tenancy plans, engaging with support partners to assist in building tenants independent living skills.

In addition, collaborate on the development of community cohesion plans to support social recreational activities, education, training, and employment in partnership with our Community Development Officer and local partners.

You will also be able to respond to tenants’ concerns, neighbourhood issues and make a conscious effort to ensure tenants are linked into the most appropriate services to both meet their needs and help them achieve success in long term housing outcomes.

To really thrive in this role, you will need excellent conflict resolution and critical thinking skills, the ability to work well in a team environment along with a passion for continual learning and growth.
