About the opportunity:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community? The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) Kids Club Promotions Officer plays a vital role in connecting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, motivating them to undergo an annual health check, and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours across four key target areas. This position involves facilitating engagement with children through various activities, coordinating health assessments, and supporting the Kids Club program's promotional efforts. The Promotions Officer will work closely with the clinical team to ensure a positive and educational experience for Kids Club members.

Our Story:

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 40 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.

BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to Aboriginal people living in Broome. BRAMS delivers more than 40,000 occasions of service each year. BRAMS delivers services in accordance with our Model of Care.

Our mission is to provide holistic and culturally responsive health and wellbeing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. That means making our Mob healthy.

Key Responsibilities:

Some of your key duties may include:

• Develop and implement compelling strategies aimed at connecting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, fostering their engagement in the Kids Club program.
• Organise and oversee a range of Kids Club events, activities, and workshops that actively promote healthy lifestyle choices and raise awareness of the four key target areas.
• Collaborate effectively with community organisations, educational institutions, schools, and various stakeholders to bolster Kids Club membership and stimulate active participation.
• Coordinate, plan and support the scheduling of annual health assessments for Kids Club members in partnership with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and General Practitioners, and provide assistance and support for the children during the health assessments.
• Lead enjoyable and informative activities and consultations designed to educate Kids Club members (and their families) about healthy lifestyle behaviours.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to address topics like healthy eating, oral health, emotions, and physical activity during health assessments. 

What You Will Bring to the Team:

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

Essential Criteria

• Possession of a relevant qualification or previous experience in health promotions.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating community-based health promotion programs and activities.
• Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for promoting children's health and well-being. 

Desirable Criteria

• Sound understanding of the Aboriginal Medical Service Model of Care.
• Previous experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience in using electronic patient information systems.
• Highly developed organisational skills and capacity to prioritise competing demands.
• Knowledge of child health promotion principles, strategies, and best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and stakeholders.

About the benefits:

• Base salary of $74,500 - $85,500
