Part-time Food Outlet Attendant Positions.

We're looking for two part-time Food Outlet Attendants for our onsite café called “The Burrow”. We are currently looking for people that can work with us across multiple days with one role being between 25-30 hours per week and the other role 15 hours per week (depending on what suits the applicants and us). It will be desirable if applicants have further availability to fill in on busy days and during leave periods as required.

About the role

Two part-time positions as listed above, vacancies exist for daytime shifts across all seven days of the week between the hours of 9:15am-2pm or 11am-3:45pm. Shift times may need to be extended in busy periods. Candidates with the flexibility to fill multiple shifts and undertake additional work at short notice will be looked upon favourably.

We are looking for applicants who understand that this role is not working directly with the Sanctuary animals and are committed and focused on their Food Attendant role.

Working from Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in Brighton – around 30 minutes north of Hobart CBD – you will need to provide your own, reliable transport to get to and from work. In addition to filling any immediate vacancies, we are looking to appoint suitable candidates to an ‘order of merit’, whereby further appointments will be made as additional vacancies arise over the next 12 months.

You

  • Minimum 1 year experience in the hospitality industry (preferably a cafe, food van or similar type of food preparation environment).
  • Cooking experience.
  • Familiar with food safety standards.
  • Know how to make great coffee (and can teach people how to make great coffee!).
  • Love working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are passionate about plant-based food (as we only serve plant-based options!).
  • Available to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.
  • Available to work shift times as stated above, with occasional variations to these times for busy periods, functions and events.
  • Super organised: you'll be preparing food and serving on busy days.
  • Enjoy working independently when required.
  • Can communicate well to other team members who will run “The Burrow” on your days off.

Us

  • Social enterprise with a focus on animal welfare and the environment.
  • Growing business with awesome customers.
  • A love for providing amazing, plant-based food!
  • Comfy uniforms.
  • Great work environment (if we do say so ourselves).

The position

As a Food Outlet Attendant, you'll be working in and operating “The Burrow”- our 100% plant-based, cosy cafe on-site at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Your view will be overlooking our Sanctuary, but you might not get to see it too often as there'll be many customers to serve and plenty of things to do!

Most days you'll be working with one other person, although there will be times you need to work independently. The core role will be the same each day (serving awesome food to equally fabulous customers), plus you may be tasked with helping to cook delicious plant-based food under the direction of our wonderful Chef/Manager.

Expect things to be fast paced and constantly evolving as we grow.

We are based in Brighton - around 30 minutes north of Hobart CBD. It is essential that you have your own reliable transport to get you to and from work.
