The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is looking for an exceptional candidate to join as Growth Manager APAC. This role will be based in Australia and you will work closely with the Managing Director APAC and the Australian & Singapore Senior Management Teams (SMT) to support the development of our BD strategy and drive the associated processes.

This role is an opportunity to further shape and lead BIT’s growth into new markets and forge lasting partnerships. You will do so by working with our consulting team to develop and manage the delivery of effective proposals as well as creating new opportunities for innovative work.

What does the Growth Manager do?

The Growth Manager’s role is to own and improve the management of our responses to competitive tenders, outbound proposals, and other business development opportunities. You will manage the opportunity lifecycle: managing the pipeline of potential projects, overseeing the writing of proposals and bids, and collecting feedback after our projects are complete.

Another significant element of this role is the development of resources that enhance the quality of our bids and proposals. This will include initiatives that streamline processes and reduce the number of hours required from senior staff and those that improve the appearance and professionalism of our submissions. The Growth Manager role will also have a Singapore-based Growth Coordinator role to support them.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and delivering a regional and local business development strategy in Singapore, Australia, and the wider APAC region. Specific duties will include: developing a proactive business development strategy for both Singapore and Australia, and building a process for the development of new products and income streams (including market scans, pitch development and business model development).

  2. Owning & developing business development processes and tools. Specific duties will include: being the first port of call for new clients, managing the processes for identifying and evaluating opportunities on tender sites, managing our approach to preparing bids and winning work, maintaining a high quality of outputs and client centric approach to proposals; managing and reporting on the new business pipeline; collecting feedback from all BD activities and existing clients (including managing proposal and project retros), developing a sound understanding of our strengths and weaknesses and what our clients are looking for.

  3. Fostering a client-centric and BD culture.Specific duties will include: provide direct support to our consulting staff in planning and executing client outreach activities and developing relationships with prospects and partners, supporting the team in building their client relationship management skills and adopting CRM practices, keeping the team informed and involved in ongoing client engagement, overseeing the maintenance of our client information to ensure we have a single and current source of truth for client data.

What makes a great Growth Manager at BIT?

We are looking for people who understand what we do, share our values, and are keen to learn and develop their expertise. We are looking for candidates with the skills listed below. We expect to provide training and development support in some of the areas.

  • Proposal development expertise. You have a proven track record of managing successful proposals in the professional services industry, ideally with experience in working with public sector clients. You ideally will have experience leading successful public and private sector competitive tenders and may have pitched as part of the final stages of a competitive bidding process.

  • Empathy for our clients’ needs: You will work with subject matter experts within the team to ensure that the proposals that we create are directly addressing the needs of our clients and are delivered in line with their values.

  • Cross cultural competency. You can comfortably adapt your working style to different teams that demonstrates respect and cultural awareness in both Australia and Singapore, and across South East Asia. You will be directly managing a team member based in Singapore, and working closely with staff and clients in numerous cultural contexts.

  • Clear and convincing communications. You’ll need to build and develop internal relationships and be able to communicate with colleagues at all levels. You’ll have exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and summarised writing/editing skills which have been demonstrated through past experience responding to a range of RFx’s;

  • Project management. You have excellent organisation and decision-making skills that give your colleagues the highest level of reassurance you are managing all aspects of the work in a timely manner and at the highest quality. You are able to consider the team’s resources so that multiple deadlines can be met and the workload is well distributed;

  • Managing and developing yourself at work. You demonstrate high self-awareness and are aware of the impact that your actions and words have on those around you. You have a keen sense of personal impact and a courteous, diplomatic yet (when needed) assertive manner. You are resilient and accept responsibility for decisions whether they achieve the desired outcome or not, and;

  • Comfort with using data to make decisions. The Growth Manager will be required to carry out data analysis on our business development activities, including asking the right questions of the data to assist decision making and to inform strategy. You are comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative information.

  • Collaborative working style. Specific duties will include: coordinate and liaise with our operations and consulting teams across APAC to identify and secure BD resourcing and support needs, engage with global Growth teams to share knowledge and contribute to the implementation of best practices across BIT.

How to apply
