The Big IssueAustralia is an independent organisation that develops and operates social enterprises and creative, sustainable solutions to homelessness, providing opportunities for people experiencing marginalisation and disadvantage to positively change their lives.

THE ROLE

The Big Issue is seeking a digital content creator to help build The Big Issue’s online audience and engagement across our digital channels. You will be responsible for ideating, researching and creating content, including text, photos, audio and video, for The Big Issue and Homes for Homes websites, EDMs and social media channels.

This is a four-day a week 12-month contract position, based in Melbourne.

SPECIFIC TASKS

  • Work with the Editorial and Marketing teams to inform digital content strategy across The Big Issue and Homes for Homes digital platforms: social media, websites and eDMs
  • Develop and create high-quality multimedia content including video, images and infographics for all The Big Issue and Homes for Homes programs
  • Produce digital content that’s engaging, accurate and optimised for search engines
  • Maintain content calendars to ensure timely delivery of content
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of content to drive data-led digital strategy
  • Build audience and engagement for both The Big Issue and Homes for Homes brands
  • Work collaboratively with Big Issue vendors to capture their voice and stories for digital channels
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, technologies and best practices

THE CANDIDATE

You are an innovative digital content creator, with proven experience at building audience and engagement. You are a creative all-rounder who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to juggle commitments across a diverse team and multiple departments.

You are an ideas person with an ability to generate multiple ways to tell The Big Issue’s story. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented and committed to inclusive, high-quality and ethical storytelling.

You are proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Sprout and WordPress CMS.
