About the Role: Anglicare is searching for a permanent full time, Logistics Manager for our Anglicare Villawood Distribution Centre. In this role you will lead and develop the Distribution Centre team in accepting incoming donations, transforming the raw stock into inventory, processing Shop orders, distributing stock to wholesale customers and always maintaining a high level of safety and accountability. You will be Managing the human resource in the Distribution Centre, Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including schools, churches, donors, Shops, clients and customers and analysing, reporting on inventory and warehouse management.

As a Logistics Manager, you will (not limited to):

  • Ensure staff and participants are well supported by providing appropriate supervision, mentoring, development, training and team meetings. Managing healthy and safe relationships with staff and participants in line with HR rules and procedures including counselling, investigating and reporting
  • Ensure efficient management of staff schedule by developing and maintaining appropriate leave calendars and station rosters to cover all areas of sorting, picking, baling and trade sales
  • Ensure that resources are managed within budget
  • Contributes to the team by assisting in other areas of factory operation as required
  • Ensure bulk production is in line with inventory expectations, as well as income and expense targets by reviewing these regularly in consultation with the Head of Retail
  • Ensure the acceptance and processing of donated goods is completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure Shops are adequately stocked at all times by completing deliveries in a timely manner
  • Ensure Shop orders are sent out accurately, checking that picking is conducted in a timely way
  • Ensure regular stock takes and generate inventory reports, sales reports and other insights as requested
  • Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times by ensuring vehicles and equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensures safe handling and storing of goods and materials by following factory procedures and / or regulations
  • Ensure documentation meets factory requirements by completing and maintaining appropriate documentation and statistical information
  • Ensures knowledge of current operational issues by implementing and maintaining a communications book
  • Contributes to the efficient workflow of the factory by loading and unloading stock in a timely manner
  • Contributes to continuous improvement by implementing policies, procedures and work practices relevant to the program.
  • Planning for risk, identifying risk and creating risk-mitigation strategies
  • Evaluating systems, processes and resources to identify potential cost optimisation

About You:

We are looking for a compassionate professional. Not only will you have had experience running a distribution centre, from an operational standpoint, but you will also have well developed stakeholder management and relationship building skills.

An important part of this role is building relationships with key stakeholders in the community. This will require highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, a true people person. Some other attributes we are looking for:

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current MR and forklift license (desirable)
  • 5+ years' experience managing a warehouse or distribution centre within manufacturing, wholesale, retail or not for profit environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of workplace safety and compliance regulations
  • Negotiation training (desirable)
  • Experience in directing operations in a busy and complex industrial environment
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in reporting
  • Exceptional scheduling and analytical skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Impeccable safety culture
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of manual handling and WHS
  • Advanced computer skills (Office)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to go above and beyond as required
