About the Role

Reporting directly to the Village Manager, and working closely with a professional and friendly team, you will be responsible for coordinating the cafe operations of Treetops Cafe location at Glenhaven Green Retirement Village by providing a high standard customer service to our Café customers by providing a high standard of food and service is provided to our residents, visitors and staff. You will also have the opportunity to coordinate functions through assisting our volunteer team. You will ensure menu variety for our customers by delivering an alternative café menu.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identification of customer preferences and provision of options with consideration for nutritional content;
  • Ensure menu requirements are met by processing orders for ingredients, dry stores and Anglicare Catering products;
  • Contribute to efficient financial functioning of the café by monitoring and meeting budget targets, ensuring all cash on site is handled responsibly and reported to the Village Manager;
  • Ensuring a consistently high standard of food service is provided to customers;
  • Ensuring customer requirements are met by processing orders accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Contributing to a hygienic work environment by cleaning and sanitising equipment, floors and work areas at front and back of Café;
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the whole team by working in a cooperative way;
  • Ensuring that safety (WHS), health, hygiene and cleanliness standards set by Anglicare are maintained.

As the successful candidate, you will have experience managing a cafe , hands on in the kitchen, possess strong customer service skills and have the ability to contribute to an environment that makes customers feel comfortable and welcome.

The Cafe hours are Monday Wednesday and Fridays 9.30am to 2.30pm. Additional time to complete admin duties are flexible. This part time position is 20 hours per week.

Skills, knowledge and experience needed

  • Relevant food handling experience, as a cook or chef with experience in order and menu creation
  • Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent is desirable, or a minimum four years’ of relevant food or hospitality industry experience is desirable.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • A genuine alignment with Anglicare’s Christian values.
