About the role
Our team is growing! As the Communications and Proposals Manager in the BES team, you’ll be working to support all our teams across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. The position will be FTE 0.8.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Communications:
- Review, refine and implement the organisation’s communications strategy
- Produce and manage all communications content across our website and social media accounts, including blog posts, profiles, case studies and social media posts
- Curate and moderate a community of users and stakeholders across our products
- Report on communication engagement and statistics
- Advise on content creation for all company staff and contractors
- Other communications and marketing duties as reasonably requested by supervisor
Proposals:
- Coordinate structured searches for funding and bid opportunities across a range of mediums
- Assist with the submission of high-quality bid responses, concept notes and proposals and ensure they are developed in a timely manner
- Communicate proposal requirements and timelines to senior staff for their inputs and review
- Gather inputs from colleagues and partners as necessary for drafting the required proposal documents
- Manage all proposal templates, technical documentation, resumes and company descriptions, updating regularly and as necessary
- Support senior staff in tracking funding opportunities to ensure timely engagement with donors regarding potential funding
- Attend meetings and conferences on behalf of BES
- Other business development related duties as reasonably requested
Community Liaison:
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as community groups, partners, and vendors, to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Support the organisation's involvement in community events and activities, such as our weekly community demos.
- Provide updates to stakeholders on the organisation's activities, events, and initiatives, and help to manage the organisation's reputation in the community.
- Assist with the development of marketing materials and the promotion of the organisation's projects and services.
About you
- Strong attention to detail including in understanding proposal requirements and responding accurately to them
- Track record of success in technical and professional writing with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
- Project management skills to coordinate inputs from across the organisation
- Experience and sensitivity working in culturally diverse settings
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work with individuals from a variety of skillsets (including Project Managers, Health Professionals and Software developers)
- Strong public speaker and presenter
- Ability to work a high level of autonomy and the ability to solve problems coupled with the ability to recognise when assistance is required (and the willingness to ask for that assistance)
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- High comfort with multiple technology platforms and to dive in and seek out the information you require.

Right now, we are using a mix of remote and office work, with teams having a nominated office day once a week and the rest is up to you! The office is on Nicholson St in Brunswick East - close to Lygon Street with its Cafés, restaurants and bars - and there is a big park just behind our building.
