This role will sit within the Community Group which is made up of two key Lines of Business at Beyond Blue; Wellness & Prevention and Community.

In Wellness & Prevention we work to prevent depression, anxiety and suicide, keep people well and support people to thrive, where they live, work and learn. This incorporates our Be You program for schools and early learning services, our approaches to mental health and wellbeing in families, in the home setting and in the workplace, and our broad approach to mental wellbeing for all people in Australia.

In Community we drive meaningful community engagement by providing people with a sense of belonging and empowering them to become champions for mental health in the community. This incorporates fundraising and philanthropy, as well as community engagement, partnerships and diversity and inclusion.

The Volunteers Manager is responsible for engaging and managing the volunteers who support Beyond Blue Programs & Events.

Key Attributes:

  • Lead the development and implementation of recruitment, management and engagement plans for volunteers;
  • Ensure Volunteers objectives and actions are devised and delivered as part of the Community Engagement Strategy 2020-22;
  • Identify, develop and implement strategies for increasing diversity of the Volunteers community to reflect Beyond Blue’s target audiences;
  • Develop processes to improve Volunteers communications and engagement, including the Volunteer Hub on the Beyond Blue website;
  • Develop and implement Volunteers training, including Team Leader roles and responsibilities;
  • Oversee the management and implementation of the Volunteer Policy and Procedure 2020, and ensure all volunteer activities abide by government legislation;
  • Implement the findings of the recent internal audit of Beyond Blue’s volunteer management;
  • Oversee work of Community Engagement Coordinators to support volunteer-related activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in the strategy, planning, development, implementation, evaluation, data analysis and reporting of community membership activities;
  • Experience in volunteer resource management and coordination;
  • Solid understanding and competence in using website content management systems, databases and other online technologies;
  • Skills to develop innovative solutions to complex problems;
  • Ability to influence and engage people through establishing and maintaining strong relationships, including by listening with empathy and communicating thoughtfully;
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues;
  • Ability to travel extensively across Australia, including on weekends.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a national NFP desirable
  • Experience managing large numbers of volunteers desirable
  • Education / qualifications -tertiary degree in relevant field desirable
