Are you passionate about building a healthier environment and stronger communities? Landcare NT is seeking a Land & Water Management Coordinator to join our dynamic team and lead impactful conservation initiatives across the Northern Territory.

As the peak body for community Landcare in the NT, Landcare NT connects, supports, and empowers 25 Landcare groups and hundreds of volunteers working on the ground to care for land and water. Based just outside Darwin in Parap, our small, collaborative team works across urban, rural, and remote regions to protect native ecosystems, improve waterway health, and champion sustainable land management. We thrive on creativity, local knowledge, and a shared commitment to community-led conservation.

About the Role

As Land & Water Management Coordinator, you'll drive the delivery of on-ground projects that restore landscapes and build ecological resilience. From revegetation and erosion control to community education and stakeholder collaboration, your work will directly support healthy Country and engaged communities.

You’ll coordinate conservation activities across varied sites and work closely with local Landcare groups, First Nations land managers, and government partners. Your focus will span practical implementation, project management, and strategic collaboration—ensuring projects are impactful, well-resourced, and aligned with broader environmental goals.

This is a flexible opportunity open to both full-time and part-time candidates. Landcare NT welcomes interest from professionals keen to work either independently or as part of a job-share arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver conservation and land management projects in diverse environments.
  • Facilitate on-ground works such as weed control, habitat restoration, and ecological monitoring.
  • Strengthen community engagement through workshops, training, and volunteer coordination.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with Landcare groups, First Nations organisations, and agencies.
  • Support reporting, funding acquittals, and advocacy for community-led conservation.

About You

You're an environmental professional with strong ecological knowledge and a track record in delivering hands-on land and water management projects. You work well with diverse communities and have a knack for bringing people together to achieve common goals.

What You Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, or similar—or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience in land and water conservation.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working with or alongside First Nations groups (highly regarded).
  • GIS or ecological monitoring skills (desirable).
  • NT driver’s licence (essential); First Aid and Ochre Card or willingness to obtain.
