The Belco Arts Gallery Reception and Retail Officer is responsible for day-to-day operations of Belconnen Arts Centre’s Gallery Reception and Shop, administrative support for the staff team, and ensuring visitors always feel engaged and welcome during their time at Belco Arts, providing a first-rate experience to all. The position reports to the Co-CEOs.

As Gallery Reception and Retail Officer, you’ll play an essential role in continually improving visitor experience and customer service. You’ll roster and supervise Belco Arts’ Gallery Reception casual staff and volunteers, and take pride in presenting the venue at its best, ensuring it is kept safe and secure.

You’ll assist with exhibition administration, cataloguing our exhibition program and offering gallery works for sale, and work with the Artistic Director in identifying artists and craftspeople to be presented in the Belco Arts Shop. You’ll manage Shop inventory agreements, receive stock, present items attractively, and provide point-of-sale assistance to customers. You will work with the Facility Manager to maintain the galleries at the highest standard, and you’ll work with the Co-CEOs to drive new initiatives that bring in first time visitors and keep people coming back.

You’ll work with a close-knit, high performing team of passionate arts professionals, in a state-of-the-art, newly completed multi-arts facility on the shores of Lake Ginninderra. You will be the first person that people engage with when they arrive at Belco Arts to explore our range of exhibitions, events and community activity. It’s a place of creativity, connection, celebration and joy.

Term and conditions

This position is delivered on a part-time 30 hour per week basis. There is a probationary period of 6 months.

This position will be delivered from 9am to 5pm, Tuesday to Friday. Occasional after hours or weekend work may be required as agreed. This is an in-person customer service role with minimal opportunity for remote delivery or work-from-home.

The position is classified in accordance with Grade 7 of the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020.
