THE ORGANISATION

With a history dating back more than 52 years to the establishment of the Top End’s first Aboriginal legal aid office, NAAJA is at the forefront of pursuing justice for Aboriginal people. As an Aboriginal community‑controlled organisation, NAAJA understands its clients’ unique and complex needs. NAAJA culturally responsive, holistic services seek to empower individuals, their families, and communities.

The largest law practice in the Northern Territory, NAAJA’s overarching vision is dignity, respect and justice for Aboriginal people.

THE ROLE

Reporting to, and working closely with the directors, the CEO is responsible for the sustainability, effectiveness, good governance and overall success of NAAJA through the development and execution of strategic goals. NAAJA is looking for a CEO who will provide clear direction and inspiration to the team of approximately 200 staff, while continuing to drive organisational change and innovation.

In this pivotal role the CEO will foster productive relationships with stakeholders, pursue excellence in governance and community relations, strategic planning, service provision, fiscal management, economic development and most importantly improve the outcomes for indigenous people encountering the Northern Territory justice system.

REQUIREMENTS

If you have experience in administrative and operational management roles within a justice setting, and practical experience engaging and working with Aboriginal people and corporations, we would be interested to hear from you. A relevant tertiary qualification and the requisite leadership, communication and financial management skills will also be essential in ensuring success in the role.

THE PACKAGE

A three to five year contract is on offer and a competitive remuneration package of $280,000 plus super, six weeks annual leave and the opportunity to salary sacrifice.
