The Opportunity

We are seeking casual Disability Support Workers to join our Learning & Experiences team in Wallaroo. This role supports people with disability to build skills, confidence and independence through engaging, person-centred programs delivered in centre-based and community settings.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide hands-on, active support to participants, helping them work towards their individual goals while promoting choice, control and independence. You will support participants through a range of skill-building, social and community activities and may also provide personal care where required. Shifts may be scheduled across weekdays between 8.30am and 4.00pm and there is opportunity for fortnightly Saturday shifts between 10.00am and 4.00pm, depending on participant needs and program requirements.

The casual hourly rate for this role is between $43.23 and $47.16 per hour (plus superannuation) depending on relevant experience and qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support participants to achieve their NDIS goals and build independence
  • Deliver individual and group supports in centre-based and community settings
  • Provide personal care, mealtime assistance and emotional support as required
  • Support skill development through structured activities and programs
  • Provide transport support using Bedford vehicles or public transport
  • Administer medication in line with training and organisational policy
  • Complete progress notes, incident reports and documentation electronically
  • Work in line with the NDIS Practice Standards, Code of Conduct and Quality & Safeguarding Framework
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for participants and colleagues.

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine commitment to supporting people with disability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidence using a range of technical systems for reporting and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts on weekdays, including some weekend shifts.

Essential requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid and current South Australian driver’s licence.
  • First Aid Qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proof of completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is highly desirable.
