Beaumont People are seeking passionate and experienced Caseworkers and/or Senior Caseworkers to support our client in the Family Preservation space.

The primary purpose of this role is to work in partnership with families using a coaching approach that is focussed on clear, achievable goals with the aim of reducing risk and increasing safety for children and young people ensuring that crucial conversations happen to address risk of harm concerns and systemic patterns of behaviour.

You will in turn be supported by your Team Leader equipping you with the tools to build capacity, motivate and empower you to help as many families as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with 7-11 families at any one time (calculated on employed hours) maintaining regular face to face contact, ensuring practice is informed by child protection risks and the families progress on their project/s.
  • Provide flexible and responsive services to families, visits are based on need and ensure flexible and responsive rescheduling to meet 65% direct work.
  • Undertake initial face to face meetings with families ensuring informed consent to join the program for the purpose of strengthening their parenting capacity and skills.
  • Complete all data and maintain records on the Client Management System (CMS) in a timely manner, ensuring information is accurate and Practice Standards and timeframes are met. Be responsive to the need to remediate data.
  • Utilising a coaching approach with families, ensuring not to ‘over-function’, assessing a family’s motivation for change, recognising this is not static and reflect on your practices to promote and enhance family’s motivation.
  • Develop collaborative projects with families that will promote their autonomy and parenting capacity. Support families to move towards consolidation on each family project.
  • Positively engage in systemic group supervision, line management supervision, consults, high risk panels, file audits and any other case reflection spaces, seeking diversity of thought from outside your core collegial relationships.

Essential Requirements:

  • University qualification in social work, psychology or similar.
  • Experience working within the community services and/or child and family sector. 0-5 years – Caseworker, over 5 years – Senior Caseworker.
  • Demonstrated commitment to child focused practice, well developed understanding of Child Protection practices, a sound understanding of legislation and an ability to effectively assess, prioritise and manage risks to child wellbeing.
  • Experience working with vulnerable and complex children and families including those from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills with experience working with a range of stakeholders including families, government and community groups.
  • Computer proficiency – intermediate or advanced skills across the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills – a proactive approach to managing resources and timelines to meet deliverables.
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check as well as have an unrestricted NSW Driver's License.
