Who we are:

The Bendigo & District Aboriginal Cooperative (BDAC) is an ACCO (Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation) registered as a member under the umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).

BDAC provides a range of specialist services for clients based primarily in the Dja Dja Wurrung including Health and Wellbeing services, Family and Community Services and Corporate services.

Position Objective:

Reporting to the Senior Case Manager, the Case Support Worker will support the team with a range of tasks, including accompanying Case Manager on visits, transports and administrative tasks as delegated.

  • $30.94 per hour
  • Full Time, 38hrs
  • 12 Month Contract

Some of the Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with service providers, case managers, families and children.
  • Operate within a statutory framework and adhere to procedures at all times.
  • Make records of observations and assessments using the Client Relationship Information System (CRIS) and use a range of IT/web-based applications in accordance with guidelines and privacy principles.
  • Attend Children’s Court of Victoria and other relevant courts and tribunals and give evidence as required.
  • Transport and accompany children to appointments, activities and events.
  • Complete administration tasks as requested including the collation of documents and drafting of court applications.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and the ACCHO environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in building strong professional relationships with children and families.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and strategies for working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of self-care and resilience when working with children and families in crisis and who have experienced trauma.
  • Ability to receive instruction and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Computer skills, ability to use a range of software and IT based reporting systems
  • Ability to prepare high quality plans, letters, emails and reports, ensure written communications achieve their purpose.
  • Ability to manage competing demands in a structured thoughtful manner.
  • Ability to transport children, conduct home visits and willingness to travel for training.
  • Experience within the Children Youth and Families sector.
  • Ability to work after hours (when required)
