About the Finance Officer role

The position of Finance Officer plays an important role at Capital Region Community Services (CRCS). In addition to providing support to the Finance team, the position will also play an important role in supporting the Aged Care Services that CRCS provides to the community by undertaking the financial functions that support the smooth day-to-day running of the program. The incumbent will be required to have a person-centred, warm and individualised approach to each person and participant to be successful in this position.

This is a full-time ongoing position based at Trevor Pearcy House, Bruce or other CRCS sites as required for the position. Accounting qualifications are not essential but highly regarded.

The main accountabilities and duties include, but not limited to:

  • Responsibilities for Aged Care include:
    • participant and program budgeting requirements associated with ITF, invoices and monthly statements.
    • timely and accurate participant account and financial reconciliations.
    • the receivables and associated debt management processes for both HCP and CHSP including Income Tested Fees (ITF), fee contributions, alerting of low budgets.
    • liaising with the Aged Care team and assisting with enquiries from participants.
  • Responsibilities for organisational finances include:
    • Bank reconciliation, payment process run
    • Financial information analysis and reporting requirements
    • General financial month and year-end tasks
    • Completing all finance and administrative tasks for the Finance team as required.
    • Support data collection, entry and record keeping
    • Undertake accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring timely payments and collections.
    • All other duties as required by CRCS within the skills, competency and training of the employee.

Selection Criteria for the role

  • Proven ability to work as a supportive team member, show initiative and ask for help
  • Minimum of 2 years’ accounting/financial experience within the Home Care Packages (HCP), Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and or Care Finder programs.
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards / Strengthening Standards, financial requirements and sector reform initiatives.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skillset with Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, including pivot tables).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including clients, community members, other employees, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use Finance and Client Management Systems.

Other requirements for the position

  • CRCS employees must hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
  • CRCS employees are required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
  • CRCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by CRCS during employment
