An exciting opportunity is now available within our Allied Health team for a qualified Speech Pathologist.

The Opportunity

The School Readiness Funding is an exciting new initiative that will provide kindergartens with funding to access a range of quality programs and supports including allied health, to help children get the most of their early learning.

You will take a lead role in the establishment of the Central Highlands School Readiness Allied Health team across Ballarat Community Health and East Grampians Health Service where you will provide clinical leadership and operational support and direction to this child-focussed, multidisciplinary allied health team. This includes responsibility for professional development planning, oversight of clinical supervision, development and monitoring of procedures and practice manuals and driving quality improvement, quality assurance and management of clinical risks.

As part of the multidisciplinary school readiness allied health team you will work collaboratively with kindergarten educators and families to build their capacity to support young children’s learning in the key areas of communication (language development), wellbeing (social and emotional) and access and inclusion. Whilst also working collaboratively with kindergartens, early years managers and Department of Education and Training area staff to plan how they will utilise their school readiness allied health funding and to build the capability of educators and families to support children through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and speech pathology specific programs and services.

The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in Speech Pathology and hold a current membership with Speech Pathology Australia. Experience working in community health and/or in kindergarten settings and experience in supervising other clinicians. Knowledge of and ability to work within the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) is an advantage.
