Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital’s (BBWH) mission is to conserve, protect and ensure positive welfare outcomes for Australian wildlife through treatment, rehabilitation, research and education. Everything we do is underpinned by important principles of ethics and animal welfare.
BBWH is a not-for-profit wildlife conservation organisation providing professional veterinary and rehabilitation services for sick, injured and orphaned native animals. Based in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, it is the only all-species wildlife hospital outside of Taronga Wildlife Hospitals, staffed by a full-time team of expert wildlife veterinarians and nurses and is open 7 days a week. Its serviced are provided free of charge.
BBWH is funded entirely through public donations, philanthropy, grants, fundraising events, sponsorship and bequests, making this role vital to our ability to continue to provide and grow our services.
Building on our current base of donors across the fundraising spectrum, the Fundraising Manager will be primarily responsible for structuring, managing and executing a multi-stream fundraising program with a focus on attracting nurturing and retaining long-term philanthropic relationships, legal bequests and an engaged base of donors and supporters.
The role will work alongside other team members responsible for fundraising events, corporate sponsorships and government grants to ensure a focus on achieving revenue targets.
The purpose of the position is to support the veterinary hospital team to effectively deliver the best possible care for wildlife patients by ensuring they have access to the resources they need to perform their work. The Fundraising Manager will be regularly in the public space and is pivotal in helping build our brand and financial sustainability through representation of our core mission.
The primary focus of the Fundraising Manager will be relationships with philanthropic foundations, current and potential donors, a bequests program and the development and implementation of a multi-stream fundraising strategy.
Availability and willingness to travel including overnight stays to meet key responsibilities is essential.
