The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
We have 2 full-time fixed-term roles for up to 12 months. We welcome applications from all locations with a preference for the roles to be based in Melbourne. You will be required to work a hybrid (2 office days) arrangement.
As the Policy Officer, Nursing and Midwifery, you’ll be working as part of a team led by the Executive Officer to support the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) in its policy development and review work. This includes researching professional matters, developing policy advice, and undertaking appropriate stakeholder management/consultation to prepare registration standards, professional codes, standards, guidelines and policy which meet the NMBA’s requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Both roles are Policy Officer roles within the Nursing and Midwifery team, and we welcome applications from candidates with policy development and expertise. One role has a focus in relation to internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNM), candidates with experience or knowledge in IQNM and projects would be highly advantageous, however a background in nursing or midwifery is not required to be successful in this particular role.
