about this position

batyr Program Presenter/Facilitators are responsible for the on-the-ground facilitation of batyr's preventative mental health education programs in secondary schools, universities, workplaces and communities.

Central to the Program Facilitator's role is the ability to relate to audiences of young people, engaging them in a positive, dynamic and conversational way whilst creating a safe and supportive environment to talk about mental health. Program Facilitators deliver mental health content, facilitate group activities and challenges, introduce and debrief the stories shared by batyr’s lived-experience storytellers, and adapt their style and approach to meet the specific needs of each audience. Program Facilitators are also responsible for administrative tasks before and after program delivery.

Successful applicants will need to hold or obtain a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencing in the role.

As with all of our employees, you will have an active interest in tackling the stigma in young people around mental health and are aligned with batyr’s five values: empathy, inclusivity, balance, positivity and boldness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver batyr’s engaging programs across multiple domains in a fun and impactful way
  • Support program administration and logistical tasks as required
  • Attend and participate in individual and group training sessions as required
  • Represent batyr aligning with our values with external stakeholders and the internal batyr team
  • Adhere to all batyr policies and processes to ensure the safety, quality and impact of batyr’s programs
  • Maintain availability for a minimum of 2 days during peak program periods
  • Be open to supporting additional program delivery across regional location

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

  • Experience working with and engaging young people
  • Demonstrated ability to receive and implement constructive feedback
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and confidently
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing in the role

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience delivering programs or presentations to large groups of young people (e.g in school, university, or community settings)
  • Experience working or studying in the mental health, youth or social impact sector
  • Valid driver’s licence
