The Being Herd program at batyr trains and supports young people to build the skills and confidence to share lived experiences of mental ill-health and their journey reaching out for support.
The Lived Experience Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, coordination and delivery of batyr’s lived experience training. This role will involve community and youth engagement to promote the Being Herd program alongside batyr’s other activities.
The Lived Experience Coordinator will report directly to the Lived Experience Training Manager based in Melbourne.
All candidates will need to hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Check, or be willing to obtain these within one (1) month of starting the role.
We are a preventative youth mental health charity created and driven by young people for young people. We empower young people with the confidence and skills to overcome tough times and look out for each other. We work to create stigma-free communities that champion young people’s mental health and well-being. Our vision is a world where all young people lead mentally healthy and fulfilling lives.
We are an energetic, fun and dynamic team passionate about creating meaningful change for youth mental health. Excitingly, we are on the hunt to build our team with even more passionate, skilled and driven people to continue to develop our high-performance culture and expand the reach and impact of batyr. If you want a workplace where you can bring your full, weird and wonderful self to the office daily, this is the place.
You are someone who cares deeply about smashing the stigma around mental health, and wants to work as part of a team that is fuelled by a passion to make a meaningful difference. Your friends say you’re an empath, oozing emotional intelligence and creating healthy emotional boundaries. You love to build meaningful connections with people. You’re organised, hard-working, innovative and are not afraid to get in the trenches alongside your team to get things done and achieve big strategic and operational goals. You can’t wait to work in an organisation that shares your values of empathy, inclusivity, balance, positivity, and boldness. You enjoy looking at the big picture to discover how you can move the work of your organisation forward through considered actions, new opportunities and relationships.
As with all of our employees, you will have an active interest in tackling the stigma in young people around mental health and are aligned with batyr’s five values; empathy, inclusivity, balance, positivity and boldness.
A position description is attached.
batyr prides itself on being a safe and inclusive workplace. Those from minority or marginalised communities are particularly encouraged to apply. This includes, but is definitely not limited to, people with a lived experience of mental illness, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities.
