About the role:

Maximum Term Contract Full-Time until 13 December 2024.

We are seeking an accomplished Team Leader to provide oversight to program and support worker staff, form strong networks to promote client outcomes, and ensure effective application of the Baptist Care SA Practice Framework.

The Unaccompanied Humanitarian Minors (UHM) program provides care, accommodation and settlement support to children who arrive in Australia alone after they have been separated from their parents in their home countries or at refugee camps. As a vital member of the program, the Team Leader plays a central role in overseeing program delivery including case management for clients, supervision to staff, and liaison with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Using collaborative leadership skills to develop cohesive, inclusive and supported team culture
  • Ensuring tailored plans are developed to meet the needs of individual clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Establishing relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders
  • Implementing and embedding the Tapa Marnini-apinthi (Baptist Care SA's practice framework)
  • Ensuring all internal and external Key Performance Indicators are met through service delivery

About you:

Our ideal candidate is a leadership professional with a strong understanding of refugee services and best practices. You are well-versed in applying Social Work theories and models with restorative and reflective practice. You have a track record of working effectively with vulnerable and at-risk children and young people, overseeing the safety of clients through managing care concerns and complex needs.

You will also have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Social Sciences, Counselling or Psychology
  • Evidence of case management work
  • Ability to build respectful, collaborative relationships with staff and stakeholders to lead the program in client outcomes
  • Lived experience of the refugee or migrant journey to Australia

Specific Requirements:

Baptist Care SA is committed to the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable people and as such applicants will be considered in accordance with our safety practices and suitability.

You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:

  • Full unrestricted South Australia Driver’s Licence
  • DHS Child-Related Employment Screening or Working With Children check
  • National Police Clearance
  • A Successful Psychological Suitability Assessment in accordance with Department of Child Protection requirements
  • Training: Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)
  • Training: Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through Their Eyes)
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours may be required
  • Use of own vehicle
