About the role
HopeStreet - Inner City is committed to putting faith into action by providing compassionate care to marginalised inner-city residents.
Our Community Development team works with people who are experiencing marginalisation in Woolloomooloo and surrounding suburbs, with a focus on women’s services and towards people living in social housing or sleeping rough.
Our team works together to create trusted places where people gather, community is strong and lives are transformed. We walk with each person to understand the unique circumstances of their life and we empower them to live well through practical and reliable support.
This role will involve:
- Leading a team that works towards community transformation through community listening, engagement and partnership
- Developing programs that aim to deliver timely, safe and quality interventions to individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness, families, youth and children
- Developing constructive relationships with the local community and key stakeholders through effective listening, cultural sensitivity, broad inclusion, strategic engagement and capacity building, with a view to equipping community to undertake community-led projects based upon the identified local community needs and strategic plan
The successful candidate will have:
- Degree or Diploma in Community Services, Community Development, Social work or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years working in a Community Services environment and Community Development
- Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare’s Christian identity and promote the organisation’s values through interactions at work
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Ability in creating, developing and implementing program plans within the Best Practice Frameworks of the Community Service Sector
- High level of negotiation skills and the ability to liaise with key stakeholders
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including computer skills
- Demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrate mediation knowledge and skills
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Hold a current Working with Children Check
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain a first aid certificate
