Welding & Fabricating Course Writer (Voluntary) - Solomon Islands National University - Remote

Australian Volunteers Program

We’re looking for a Welding and Fabricating Course Writer who can volunteer remotely (from home) for 3 months.

Join the Australian Volunteers Program to contribute to sustainable development across the Solomon Islands.

About the Partner Organisation:

The Faculty of Science and Technology offers training for careers in carpentry and joinery, construction, plumbing and water services, electrical technology, refrigerator and air-conditioning and construction management. The SBE Engineering department offer programs in construction management, survey and civil engineering and photovoltaic energy systems. Currently they are developing programs in architecture, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanical engineering.

The university is introducing a new program of Welding and Fabrication under the Mechanical and Engineering Department. Lecturers do not currently have the capacity to develop the course guide for welding and would benefit from the support of a Welding and Fabricating Course Writer. A volunteer who has the knowledge, skills and experience in the AQF TAFE Standard could greatly assist in developing this new course.

About the Position:

  • You will support the lecturers to develop a Certificate IV in Welding and Fabricating.
  • You’ll need at least 5 years of TVET teaching experience and a Certificate IV in Welding and Fabrication.
  • You will help students in the Solomon Islands gain access to quality education and help to create the jobs of the future to build the economy.

We actively support and encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer internationally and aim to make the program as accessible and inclusive as possible. Find out more
