We’re looking for a Teacher for Young Deaf Children who can live and volunteer in the Philippines for 10 months.
The Welcome Home Foundation, Inc. (WHFI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children. They were on the forefront of education during the national transition to Filipino Sign Language (FSL) with not only helping other deaf individuals becoming skilled workers and students, but also strengthening the Filipino deaf community and culture. In 1995, they established the Welcome Home Educational Resource Center (WH-ERC) for deaf children and in 2010, established their Early Intervention Program (EIP) to stimulate early language and literacy development of younger deaf children with their parents. The WH-ERC is looking to request an in-country volunteer that can mentor and train local staff to increase the development of Special Education Teachers in implementing early intervention systems and working with deaf and hard-of-hearing babies, toddlers, and children.
The Australian Volunteers Program is an Australian government-funded initiative. We support partner organisations across the Pacific, Asia, and Africa to achieve locally led change.
Volunteers are supported throughout their volunteer journey, and we actively support and encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to volunteer internationally and aim to make the program as accessible and inclusive as possible. Find out more.
We cover your flights, insurance, and provide a living and accommodation allowance. Learn more here.
