We’re looking for a Biomedical Technician Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Kirimitati Island in Kiribati.
The Hospital in London on Kirimitati Island in Kiribati, has the following departments, emergency/outpatient, maternity, labor ward, operating theatre, dental unit, pharmacy, laboratory, Radiology, Environmental unit, Eye clinic, Health promotion, carpentry and biomedical unit. The hospital also supports the health of the people in the outer Islands of the Line and Phoenix group, namely Washington, Fanning and Canton Islands.
The aim of this assignment is to ensure that all the equipment in respective departments is managed well and repaired promptly if a fault is identified. The biomedical unit is supported by one bio medical technician who is responsible for all of the equipment in all departments. This technician could benefit from an experienced technician to offer capacity building and enable him to fix more complicated equipment. The future goal is to be self-sufficient in fixing and maintaining equipment without needing assistance from staff at the hospital in Tarawa.
