Your new role

The role of a Occupational Therapist in the Foundation Skills Group involves working collaboratively within the team to deliver holistic early intervention therapy in line with individualised therapeutic goals and provide discipline specific skills and knowledge to support all members of the team to deliver teaching and learning across all of a child’s developmental domains. The Occupational Therapy role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with team members to conduct relevant assessments and identify family priorities
  • Identify holistic and person-centred therapy goals and develop therapy plans
  • Facilitate therapeutic interventions across all areas of child development, with support from other members of the team
  • Application of a range of different therapy styles based on client need (e.g., behavioural, social, developmental)
  • Provide discipline specific knowledge and skills to support team members to deliver therapy within the area of Occupational Therapy
  • Facilitate Positive Behaviour Support strategies with support from behaviour specialists
  • Diligent and accurate data collection and daily monitoring of client progress toward goal

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or a Master of Occupational Therapy (Graduate Entry)
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with AHPRA as required by the NDIS professional qualification requirements
  • A passion for working in early intervention and collaborative team work
  • Experience in the delivery of services to children with developmental delay/disorders
  • Experience in the provision of occupational therapy services
  • Experience working with families to identify goals and priorities and transition therapeutic strategies into the home and community settings
  • Sound knowledge of a range of assessments and intervention options
  • Knowledge or understanding of person centred practices and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Positive Behaviour Support practices and principle
  • Satisfactory DHS Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening and National Police Check
