The Australian Greens are seeking a driven campaigner to join our team and work with the Federal Party Room to ensure the Greens are well positioned to respond in key campaign moments in the lead up to the next federal election. As the Issues Campaigns Coordinator you will assist in the development and implementation of high-visibility, national campaigns that grow the Greens movement and inspire our members and supporters to take action to tackle the twin issues of the climate crisis and the growing economic inequality across the country.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a campaigner who’s had experience working as part of a team to develop and deliver campaign plans and progress long running campaign outcomes. You’re someone who thrives on keeping across the news of the day and is quick to identify emerging campaign opportunities. You enjoy problem solving and making things happen, and do your best work when thinking creatively about how to take a campaign to the next level. You’re passionate about creating change and building strong progressive movements and you have an understanding of and commitment to the Australian Greens' Principles and Charter.

Expectations

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing national climate and economic justice campaigns, including the development of campaign plans and deploying agreed tactics.
  • In collaboration with the broader campaigns team, ensure the successful rollout of election focused campaign activities that support our existing national climate and economic justice campaigns.
  • Develop online and offline supporter actions at key election moments that support our strategic goals and election objectives, including monitoring and reporting back on their impact.
  • Activate long-time supporters and motivate them to get involved with new climate and economic justice campaign activities in the upcoming election.
  • Assist in the development of structures and resources to better connect supporters with our national election activities.

Selection Criteria

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Greens principles.
  • Experience in planning and delivering campaign tactics that utilise a suite of tools to reach and engage a range of audiences and motivate people to take action.
  • Tech savvy with an understanding of how to combine digital and field organising strategies to achieve campaign goals.
  • Ability to think through political issues or detailed policies and communicate key messages simply and clearly to different audiences.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Ideally one to three years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • An appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa (if applicable).

Bonus points for experience in any of the following:

  • Climate campaigning or organising.
  • Email or social media copywriting.
  • Volunteer management.

Relationship to Others

Management supervision by: National Manager

Works closely with: The election staff team of the National Office and the senior staff and communications team of the Federal Parliamentary Leader’s Office.

Location

The role is located in Melbourne, with a requirement to travel to events locally and occasionally interstate when required. The role will require working from home on commencement until May 2021, with flexible working conditions for remote work available once offices return to capacity.

Conditions

This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) for a fixed period to 19 November 2021. Continuation of this position, on the same or amended terms, may be possible subject to available funding and the expected date for the federal election.

The position is subject to the conditions of the “The Australian Greens Staff Collective Agreement”.

The classification for this position is Support 2 with a salary in the range $71,106 to $82,483, subject to experience, plus 9.5% superannuation.
