AFS Intercultural Programs Australia (AFS Australia) is the Australian partner of an international, volunteer-driven, non-profit organisation that creates social impact through student mobility and intercultural experiences.

AFS is a bold idea with a courageous mission: we provide intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

AFS Australia was established in 1959 and helped to pioneer the concept of secondary student exchange in Australia. We have since become a leading educational organisation that provides intercultural learning opportunities to Australian communities, schools, students and their families through experience-based programs. Volunteerism is a key driver for AFS Australia: we currently engage 400+ volunteers across all Australian states and territories, with a focus on regional Australia.

The Hosting Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the AFS Australia Hosting Team, with inbound programs, ensuring that participants, host families, volunteers and AFS partners experience high quality service.

It is through AFS' diverse inbound and outbound programs that we achieve our mission. The hosting program assistant works closely with other members of AFS Australia's Programs Team and communicates regularly with other staff, volunteers and host families in Australia on a range of promotion, support and program administration matters.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who won't shy away from a challenge. We need an effective communicator and a creative problem solver, who is driven by a passion for intercultural learning, global citizenship and working with young people and families.
