About the role

The Dental Practice Manager undertakes the day-to-day management activities of the Dental Clinic as well as overseeing processes such as procurement and policy review, in order to support the vision of the Director, Dental Services. As part of their role the Dental Practice Manager also undertakes some dental assistant duties to ensure currency of their clinical skills.

Duties

  • Coordinate operations of the Dental Clinic, from staffing, WHS, governance and client awareness perspective. In addition, drive the development of a positive work working environment.
  • Provide effective and cost-efficient management of the Dental Lab and oversee procurement for all dental equipment.
  • Ensure dental clinic operates in accordance with relevant government legislations, OHS, ADA guidelines and other relevant accreditation standards. In addition, ensure that effective and timely reporting for all incidents occurs.
  • Provide quality support with best practice chair side assisting.
  • Commit to a high level of quality management for ATSICHS through use of LogiQC quality management system.
  • Ensure the effective management of Dental Services delivery is of best practice quality services, effective forward service planning, meeting targets and management priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop strong values based on partnerships with other agencies as well as integration of services within ATSICHS as well.
  • Ensure the collation and delivery of quantitative and qualitative reports and analyse data as part of the service delivery trends.
  • Cultivating productive working relationships at all levels, which support the nurturing of internal and external relationships, facilitates cooperation, trust and respect, values differences and diversity and guides, mentors and focuses on the development of staff.
  • Asses the performance of staff ensuring opportunities for their personal and career development and the management of any performance issues that need to be addressed.
  • Assist in the shaping and growing of ATSICHS organisational culture that promotes teamwork, positive workplace culture, communication and engagement in a way that inspires a sense of purpose and direction.

COVID-19 Requirements

  • Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a COVID -19 vaccine is encouraged.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Dental Assisting or other qualifications in either Business//Human Services/Public Health/Nursing/Allied Health or Education
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in managing a team in a Team Leader, Senior Dental Assistant or Manager role
  • Previous experience in overseeing and coordinating dental processes and procedures 
  • Previous experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet targets and performance outcomes
  • Ability to support a continuous improvement model for achieving outcomes
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of clinical software systems
  • Decisive listening, influencing and persuasive skills.
  • Hand hygiene certification
  • National Police Check.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working within a dental laboratory.
  • Qualifications in dental practice management.
