As the Senior Language Resource Officer, you will coordinate and implement policy, advice and resources that improve outcomes through the teaching and use of Aboriginal languages in schools. Based in the Teaching and Learning Services division, you will work closely with schools in East Arnhem and other regions, supporting professional learning, curriculum design, resource development and the use of Aboriginal languages across the region.

In your role, you will work with regional and school leadership to support educators in delivering quality Aboriginal language programs. You will provide strategic advice and support on bilingual education, curriculum design and professional learning. You will develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships with Aboriginal communities and schools. You will coordinate professional development and mentoring opportunities for both Aboriginal and non-indigenous staff and contribute to the development of high-quality resources that support Aboriginal languages in schools.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal language education, bilingual education or linguistics.
  • A strong understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and Aboriginal community engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives or projects related to Aboriginal languages and education.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Qualifications in education, linguistics.
