Work in a multidisciplinary team supporting schools in regional networks to implement best practice wellbeing and inclusion approaches to improve learning outcomes for students with diverse needs.
Inclusion Advisor Psychologists provide psycho-educational support and assistance to school communities with a principle focus on students with disabilities. School psychologist perform psychological assessment with students for various reasons using psychometric testing, observation and interviews with parents and teachers.
As an Inclusion Advisor Psychologist, you will play an important role in reviewing the eligibility of students in Special Schools/Special Centres. Inclusion Advisors Psychologist provide consultation, comprehensive assessment, treatment planning and short term therapeutic interventions to students for personal, social/emotional and/or behavioural concerns impacting on their educational outcomes through the delivery of social-emotional learning curricula and small group interventions.
Various positions are available, in the Darwin office, Katherine office, Palmerston office, Nhulunbuy Education Office, Alice Springs office, and Tennant Creek office. Applicants for the Katherine may be able to request to be based in the Darwin office. Applicants for Tennant Creek positions may be able to request to be based in the Alice Springs office.
To be successful you will need a degree in psychology and registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Office-based conditions apply to this position. The applicant must hold or be able to obtain a Working with Children Notice Clearance and an NT driver’s licence. Visits to remote schools may necessitate travel by four-wheel drive vehicle on unsealed roads or light aircraft and include overnight stays in remote communities of up to four days. Four-wheel drive training will be provided by the NT Department of Education.
