The Australian Services Union (ASU) is a member-led, progressive union. We are one of the largest unions in Australia and have achieved record membership growth in recent years.

We are looking to expand our member engagement team (with both full time + part time hours on offer). Based in Adelaide, the member engagement team is the first point of contact for ASU members, providing administrative and industrial support.

ASU Member Engagement Officers -

  • Communicate confidently and efficiently with union staff, members and stakeholders
  • Undertake persuasive / organising conversations
  • Conduct outbound member contact, primarily over the telephone
  • Respond to inbound member and non-member queries
  • Provide immediate industrial triage and basic advice to members and non-members
  • Ensure members feel supported while setting realistic expectations
  • Escalate matters to the Industrial team when needed
  • Conduct general office administrative duties including database management
  • Assist with union organising and campaigns

We are looking for applicants who –

  • Support the union’s values and strategies
  • Enjoy working as part of a small team
  • Maintain accurate records in a timely manner
  • Communicate with colleagues, members and potential members in a professional, friendly manner
  • Remain composed when helping members who may be in a distressed or agitated state
  • Handle objections, grievances and sensitive information with maturity and discretion
  • Have strong computer skills

The current salary range is $71,073 - $80,371 depending on skills and experience.

The ASU also offers -

  • 12 RDOs per year
  • 4 weeks annual leave per year
  • 17.5% leave loading
  • 3 additional Grace days over Christmas / New Years
  • generous Superannuation arrangements, with additional employer contributions of up to 4.5% in excess of the Superannuation Guarantee
