About Us

Assistance Dogs Australia (ADA) is a growing and globally respected not-for-profit organisation that values its team members and is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Major Gifts Executive to join our Philanthropy and Fundraising team and play a key role in supporting our fundraising strategy.

ADA breeds, trains and places assistance dogs with Australians in unique situations. We currently specialise in support for people with a physical disability, autism or post-traumatic stress; as well as providing a range of services to these individuals and their families.

Our assistance dogs provide independence, self-esteem, improved health and relationships to individuals and families – resulting in stronger and more successful communities.

Position Overview

In this newly created role as the Major Gifts Executive, you will be an integral part of our Fundraising & Philanthropy team.

Key responsibilities in this role will be engaging and stewarding major donors to achieve our strategic goals and intent. This includes but is not limited to, mid-value and major donors, donor engagement activities and events.

You would report directly to the Fundraising & Philanthropy Manager.

About You and Your Experience

You will be able to demonstrate success in a similar role and be motivated and enthusiastic with a natural drive for fundraising. You will also bring a strong and authentic nature in your ability to build relationships.

  • Proven success and proficiency in sales and negotiations with a track record in fundraising
  • Teamwork oriented with ability to openly collaborate and support the greater good of the organisation
  • Professional with a supportive approach to client and stakeholder interactions and management
  • Ability to adapt and manage competing priorities as well as multiple projects
  • Ability to represent the organisation at external events. Rarely, but sometimes this may sit outside of standard working hours
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain program goals in a complex client needs environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written, verbal and in a teaching/training capacity
  • Commercially astute; ability to analyse and prepare a business case
  • Superb attention to detail and ability to deliver on agreed timeframes
  • Passion and ability to work with dogs as part of the service delivery
  • Proficiency in leveraging databases, CRM, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possession of a valid drivers NSW licence
  • Managing major and mid-level donors
  • Champion of change
  • May already have or happy to provide an NDIS Workers Screen Check
  • The role is also eligible for 'not for profit' salary packaging - up to $15,900 a year
