  • Location: 247-251 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

  • To 31st March 2020, with possibility to extend, subject to funding.

Are you an experienced international program manager with a passion for gender equality and partnership working?

This temporary role will provide scope, responsibility and flexibility - working in a small and dynamic Australian aid and development NGO.

Who are we?

Assisi Aid Projects is an Australian aid and development NGO that works with local partners to increase women’s social, economic and political participation in India and Cambodia.

Our vision is for a world in which all people have equal opportunity to determine and achieve their economic and social potential.

Established in 1985, Assisi is accredited with the Australian Aid Program and is a member of the Australian Council for International Development.

About the role:

The Program Manager has oversight for Assisi’s program operations in India and Cambodia. Working with and through local partner organisations, you will be responsible for quality project management including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and financial management. Through regular communication and engagement, you will build effective and supportive working relationships with partners and stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and quality deliverables, including reporting and compliance with donor requirements.

As a member of a small team, you will also contribute to wider organisational development including donor engagement, partner development, funding submissions, volunteer management, communications and inputting into policy and strategy development.

This is a temporary role providing the opportunity to join Assisi at an exciting time, as we develop project plans for 2020-2023 and implement a refreshed communications and fundraising approach, including development of a new website. Ability to work flexibility as part of a small team, and to prioritise key tasks is essential to this role.

Key selection criteria:

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, e.g. international development, public policy or similar.
  • Experience in managing projects which address gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • At least 5-7 years of international program management experience - project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and financial management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including an ability to build strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills for proposal development, grant writing and reporting.
  • Significant cross-cultural awareness and experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding of children, and to uphold Assisi’s Policy for the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment
  • Excellent team working skills, including flexibility – Assisi is a small organisation and so staff must work together to manage organisational requirements.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of international donors, particularly DFAT, and their requirements.
  • In-country international development experience.
  • Experience in supporting partner capacity building.
  • Skills in preparation of strategic communication materials, or in social media
  • Experience managing or coaching volunteers or junior staff

Assisi Offers:

  • A flexible and supportive workplace.
  • Professional development and networking opportunities.
