About the role

We aim to support and empower individuals on the spectrum and their families to bring about meaningful change based on functional goals. We work in partnership with the individual and their support network to identify strengths, areas of need, and develop intervention strategies that build capacity and work with participant's interests. In 2023, this role is based in Aspect Hunter School satellite classes. In the future, this may also include meeting participants in the community. You will provide support to students and their families to navigate some of the social complexities they face. This will then support their ability to access the school environment and curriculum so they can achieve their hopes and aspirations. You will have the opportunity to be part of a learning support team consisting of Teaching staff and allied health professionals (remote and in-person).

About the school

Aspect Hunter School provides placement for approximately 200 students on the autism spectrum from Kindergarten to year 12 at its main school at Thornton, and across its satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools in Newcastle, Hunter and Port Macquarie regions.

What you bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy
• Fully registered with AHPRA
• Current driver’s licence, use of own vehicle for business purposes (reimbursed per km) and willingness to travel across your local community
• NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance
• NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’  certificate.
• You may be required to provide an international police clearance
