THE JOB
The Western Australia Branch of the RTBU is the foremost advocate and representative organisation for the rail and public transport industries in WA.
The RTBU WA has a position available for an Industrial Organiser based at the Perth CBD Office. This position will report directly to the Branch Secretary.
The position requires the Industrial Organiser to hold both a State and Federal Right of Entry Permit and a valid Australian Driver’s Licence.
THE INDUSTRIAL Organiser WILL:
- Provide advice to Members, Delegates and HSRs on their rights and entitlements at work.
- Persuade potential Members to join the Union.
- Design and implement organising campaigns to grow the RTBU.
- Coordinate regular workplace visits and contact with Members.
- Assist in the election and training of new Delegates & HSRs.
- Assist with and negotiate Enterprise Agreements.
- Represent local membership issues with management and negotiate disputed issues with employers.
- Represent the union, and its members, at various tribunals such as FWC and the WAIRC on a case-by-case basis.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL DEMONSTRATE:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and cooperatively as a member of a small team.
- A clear understanding and commitment to trade union principles and the labour movement.
- An understanding of the State and Federal industrial relations systems.
- A knowledge of the Work Health and Safety regime in Western Australia.
- Experience in the rail industry, public sector or public transport preferred, although this should not be considered an obstacle to application.
