About Active Performance

The AP team provides Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to clients across North Queensland, Cape York, the Torres Strait, and East Arnhem Land. We have staff based in Cairns and Groote Eylandt. Our clients include remote medical health clinics, NDIS participants, private physiotherapy clients and sporting teams.

About the Role

AP is seeking a Physiotherapist to be based on Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory. In this role, you will be providing high level physiotherapy, exercise therapy and health education to clients in the following settings:

  • Three community health clinics on Groote Eylandt alongside the local health team comprised of doctors, nurses community health workers and visiting specialists.
  • Two aged Care centres on Groote Eylandt for group exercise therapy
  • Up to 15 NDIS participants in the various communities on Groote Eylandt including the opportunity to provide “therapy on country” in some remote and seldom visited locations that clients reside in

These services will be provided in medical clinics, aged care facilities, home visits and out on country ensuring that no two days of work are the same.

Duties in these specific areas include:

NDIS:

  • Provision of NDIS funded Physiotherapy supports to NDIS participants based in the various communities across Groote Eylandt
  • Clients will vary across the lifespan and will present a wide array of pathologies
  • Completion of therapy reports for NDIS participants.

Community Clinics:

  • Provision of physiotherapy to community clients who have been referred by local GP’s and nurses to be seen for physiotherapy
  • Locations of therapy to be provided in various settings such as in clinic, home visits and on country

Aged Care:

  • Provision of group exercise therapy and physiotherapy to clients of the community aged care centres

Active Performance professional development and job role support include:

  • Internal professional development schedule
  • Weekly team meetings
  • Weekly one on ones
  • Twice yearly AP development meetings

We have put together an excellent remuneration package of $110,000 - $132,000 (incl superannuation) plus leave entitlements and a range of incentives including:

Requirements

Suitable applicants must:

  • Have a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy and be AHPRA registered
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current police record check and blue card or ability to obtain one
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience
    • Remote community health work / Indigenous Health work is highly desirable
    • Occupational Physiotherapy is NOT a pre-requisite as training and upskilling will be provided as needed
  • Exemplary communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of people.

About Groote Eylandt

This role will be based on Groote Eylandt, situated in the pristine waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria where seldom-visited islands, beaches, swimming holes, rugged coastlines and towering escarpments are ripe for exploration! Located approximately 50km off the eastern coast of Arnhem Land and approximately 630 km from Darwin – Groote Eylandt is the largest of some forty surrounding islands in the Groote Archipelago and is also Australia’s 3rd largest island.

Groote holds many adventures for nature lovers, fishing and camping enthusiasts, amateur photographers, and explorers. The local tarmac airport is 18km form Alyangula Township, with Air North operating daily inbound and outbound commercial flights to/from Darwin and Gove (flying time approx. 90 minutes). There are also direct Charter flights that operate between Cairns (QLD) and Groote Eylandt on a weekly basis.

There are also regularly offered employment opportunities within the Anindilyakwa Land Council in various specialised fields.
