Griffith Health is one of the largest and most diverse single academic Health faculties in the Australian University sector. The Health Group consists of eight schools (Allied Health Sciences, Applied Psychology, Dentistry and Oral Health, Human Services and Social Work, Medicine, Medical Science, Nursing and Midwifery, and Pharmacy) and provides an extensive array of high quality and innovative education programs ranging from the enabling biomedical and social health sciences to professional and clinical disciplines. Currently over 10,000 students and more than 700 staff work within the Health Group, as well as a network clinical training sites and practitioners who collaborate in our research and teaching.

The School of Applied Psychology currently has 51 academic staff and a number of research fellows across two campuses (Gold Coast and Mount Gravatt), whose teaching and research interests span organisational, clinical, cognitive, social, developmental, forensic, health, and cognitive psychology.

The opportunity

The role of Deputy Head of School (Research) is primarily to provide strategic leadership and management across both campuses of the School in the research portfolio, build research capacity in the School; chair the School research committee, lead the development of a research strategic plan and ensure school resources for research are invested to promote high quality research outcomes.

This is a fixed term (three years), full time position as Deputy Head of School (Research), School of Applied Psychology.  An underlying continuing Professor, Level E / Associate Professor, Level D appointment will also be offered. 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have evidence of a passion for applied research in psychology, counselling, and suicidology and in developing the profiles of early and mid-career researchers. In addition, you will have the ability to assist in the development of research teams that consist of cross-disciplinary collaborative partnerships to better able address research questions of importance.

You will have a strong desire to further your successful program of research by publishing research of impact, supervising PhD students to completion, and attracting significant external competitive research income.

Salary range

A salary package that includes a base Professorial salary of $179,288 per annum with a Deputy Head of School loading, and an employer superannuation contribution of 17% of base salary will be offered.

A salary package that includes a base Associate Professorial salary of $139,183 - $153,337 per annum with a Deputy Head of School loading, and an employer superannuation contribution of 17% of base salary will be offered.

Attractive salary packaging arrangements are also available.
