About the opportunity
Are you passionate about educational excellence and ready to lead impactful change in specialist medical education? The Faculty of Pain Medicine, a world leader in pain medicine training, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Education Development Lead to join our high-performing team.
In this key position, you will drive innovation in curriculum and program development, foster continuous improvement in education quality, and strengthen stakeholder relationships across the pain medicine community. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our fellows and trainees, helping ensure the next generation of specialists are equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience to lead in their field.
What you’ll do:
Lead the design, development and evaluation of high-quality training programs and assessments grounded in best evidence and adult learning principles.
- Coordinate working groups to deliver on curriculum, assessment, and training initiatives aligned with the Faculty’s and ANZCA’s strategic direction.
- Drive educational quality improvement by developing robust evaluation tools and supporting systematic curriculum review.
- Develop, maintain and enhance learning and assessment resources in collaboration with subject matter experts and internal teams.
- Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure strong engagement from fellows, trainees, committees and external partners.
- Provide expert educational input to Faculty committees and contribute to the preparation of strategic reports and recommendations.
This is a part-time, 3 days a week, 18-month contract position reporting to the Executive Director, Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM). You will be based at ANZCA House on St Kilda Road, Melbourne, with hybrid, flexible working options available.
The role occasionally requires participation in meetings outside of standard business hours and during weekends. Additional hours during peak times may also be required, with time-in-lieu provisions available. Some travel may be required.
What you bring:
Tertiary qualifications in education, health, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, program development and educational evaluation, ideally in a healthcare or higher education setting.
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to lead working groups and consultative processes.
- Outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-level reports and briefing papers.
- A passion for delivering high-impact education programs that improve patient care and professional standards.
Keys to your success:
- Strong educational background in postgraduate clinical education (e.g. specialist medical college, university, hospital education, regulatory agency, etc.)
- Strong understanding of clinical training environments, particularly in a postgraduate or specialist medical training context.
- Experience with curriculum design, program development, assessment frameworks, and implementation of innovative training models.
- Strong project coordination skills and the ability to lead working groups and consultative processes.
- Outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-level reports and briefing papers.
- A passion for delivering high-impact education programs that improve patient care and professional standards.

- Experience working with volunteers as subject matter experts.
- Postgraduate education qualification.
