Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation (Lhere Artepe) is the Prescribed Body Corporate representing the Native Title holders of Alice Springs, whose purpose is to support and empower Apmereke-artweye (landowners) Central Arrernte people through forging meaningful partnerships, improving the quality of life for all Apmereke-artweye (landowners), and preserving apmere (country) and culture.

About the Alice Springs Justice Reinvestment Initiative

Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation, in partnership with Anglicare NT and Desert Knowledge Australia, has been funded to deliver a community-led justice reinvestment initiative to address the drivers of contact with the criminal justice system, through engaging and collaborating with all stakeholders and in Alice Springs, Town Camps and surrounding communities.

Justice Reinvestment is a way of working - a process that strengthens community leadership to help improve justice and other outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It also focuses on improving outcomes in community and is informed by data and other evidence that helps communities identify priorities and measure progress over time.

About the Opportunity

The Justice Reinvestment Backbone Coordinator will provide management and support to the Backbone team to inform the development of a place-based, community-led Justice Reinvestment Implementation Plan, that sets out how the community of Alice Springs, Town Camps and surrounding communities will address the drivers of contact with the criminal justice system and reduce the over-incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

You will support community collaboration and promote Justice Reinvestment to a cross-section of the community (Traditional Owners, community members, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, government, and non-Indigenous service providers), facilitating community engagement and data‑driven decision-making that is informed by Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles and practices.

About You

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification along with demonstrated leadership experience at a senior management level. You will have a genuine understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture, particularly Central Arrernte peoples and communities and the impacts of the criminal justice system and justice related issues. You will be an innovator – skilled at identifying solutions and driving processes to ensure Justice Reinvestment objectives are met. You will be an effective communicator with demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders.
