The Story and Content team leads Amnesty’s digital program and produces content that demonstrates Amnesty’s impact and engages supporters in campaigns to achieve real human rights wins. We have a flexible permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced Social Media Content Producer to join our team. The salary for this position starts at $90,985 per annum plus 10.5% super, and not for profit salary packaging, depending on skills and experience.

Our Story & Content Producer (Social Media) leads the planning, production and evaluation of social media content to support the Supporter Engagement, Fundraising, Impact and Movement areas of Amnesty International Australia This is a great opportunity to make a valued contribution to digital storytelling, supporter experience and human rights with Amnesty International Australia. This role may require work outside of regular office hours to respond to developments in the media and/or political cycle.

This role is responsible for:

  • Producing and delivering communications, using a range of channels and technologies
  • Assist in content planning and evaluation/reporting for assigned campaigns, supporter journeys, retention activities
  • Content production across all social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter) and tools for campaign communications, including social posts, blogs, online actions and other campaign materials
  • Creating empowering, respectful and sensitive content and stories in collaboration with rights holders, marginalised groups, and those with lived experience
  • Recruitment and management of volunteers
  • Retrieving and repurposing global Amnesty content for the Australian context

You will have:

  • At least three years’ experience in a content production role across all formats (including story development, design, editing, publishing and analysis)
  • High-level communication & interpersonal skills - EI - (written, face to face, telephone, social media)
  • Experience using a data-driven approach to content optimisation
  • Experience supporting on digital strategy and leading social media content planning in line with overarching strategy
  • Understanding of digital platforms including emerging trends, functionality and formats
  • Proficiency in content creation programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Canva
  • Agile and adaptable to change
  • Content analysis skills
  • Project management skills including task prioritisation, initiative and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage a busy workload – including the capacity to juggle competing priorities, balance strategic and reactive work, and meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinking, ideation and storytelling skills
  • Understanding of digital community management
  • Understanding of best practice for specific communications channels
  • Demonstrated experience in, or commitment to working with rights holders

Selection Criteria

  • Strong technical proficiency in digital communications, specifically social media platforms, publishing systems and CMSs, etc.
  • Highly developed communication production skills, including strong written and visual communication skills
  • Capacity to produce content that is highly engaging, factually accurate, values-driven, and respects the lived experience and rights of subjects and audiences
  • Details-focus and strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to develop briefs, concepts, strategies, tactics and campaigns
  • High levels of data literacy, and skills in monitoring and evaluating communications campaigns and tactics
  • Ability to balance planned and reactive workflows, and prioritise activities rapidly
