About the role:

Reporting to our Head of Content & Brand, the PR & Media Manager is a key role in our Development & Communications Team responsible for delivery of our media engagement strategy for the Foundation, including Dolly’s Dream.

This role is formally based in South Melbourne, however at the Foundation, we support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. How and where you work is agreed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for delivery of high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Head of Content & Brand, develop and implement a Media and PR strategy to support the goals of the Foundation including programs, advocacy and income generation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Advocacy, Policy and Prevention Team to deliver our Advocacy strategy and effectively position AMF and Dolly’s Dream as experts/thought leaders in our key program areas.
  • Build strong and enduring relationships with key journalists and content directors across media networks and work with them to deliver consistent messages and information to target audiences.
  • Manage all media opportunities, enquiries, and publicity for the Foundation (including both the AMF and Dolly’s Dream brands) and all Program, Partner and Fundraising campaigns and initiatives
  • Develop and implement the ambassador and influencer strategy to engage existing and new ambassadors to support the work of the Foundation

About you:

  • Significant experience as a journalist and/or in PR and corporate communications for a complex organisation and media landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and enduring relationships with media, including management of significant media partnerships, government, corporate, suppliers and individual stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously, and to work autonomously to achieve agreed plans and objectives.
  • Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and high expectations for quality.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, experience and maturity to relate effectively with internal and external stakeholders from all walks of life and backgrounds.
