  • Location: Flexible within Australia (Brisbane preferred).
  • Employment type: Permanent.
  • Salary: AMCS Level 6 $110 000 - $120 000 per annum (full-time equivalent, plus superannuation (12.5%).
  • Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

The Opportunity

The Fundraising Manager leads AMCS' fundraising operations, driving supporter growth, income generation and long-term donor engagement to strengthen the organisation's impact and financial sustainability.

Reporting to the Fundraising Director, this leadership role manages a multidisciplinary fundraising team and oversees a diverse portfolio spanning appeals, donor acquisition, regular giving, digital fundraising, community fundraising, retail-linked fundraising and donor care. Working collaboratively across communications, campaigns and operations, the Fundraising Manager ensures fundraising programs are strategic, integrated and evidence-based, delivering exceptional supporter experiences while achieving AMCS' income, retention and engagement goals.

This position requires strategic leadership, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to leading people, fostering innovation and continuous improvement, and translating AMCS' vision of a thriving ocean for a healthy planet into sustainable fundraising growth that strengthens our mission and amplifies our impact.

The role requires occasional travel within Australia.

What you’ll bring

  • Leadership and People Management: Demonstrated experience leading fundraising, marketing or engagement teams, with the ability to mentor, motivate and develop high-performing teams through growth and change.
  • Fundraising Strategy and Delivery: Proven experience designing and delivering integrated, multi-channel fundraising programs, including donor acquisition, regular giving, appeals or digital fundraising, with measurable outcomes aligned to organisational strategy.
  • Supporter Engagement: Strong understanding of supporter journeys, donor stewardship and retention principles, with experience using CRM systems and data analysis to strengthen engagement and inform fundraising strategy.
  • Governance and Accountability: Experience managing budgets, financial reporting and compliance, with a sound understanding of fundraising legislation, ethical fundraising practices and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Skills: Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across fundraising, communications, campaigns and operations, build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to organisational strategy and culture.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in fundraising, marketing, communications, business or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
