The Opportunity

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, strategic and audience-focused communications that strengthen AMCS’ fossil fuels campaigns, increase public engagement, and supports the achievement of policy and mobilisation objectives.

The Role Details:

Location: Sydney (Gadigal) Melbourne (Naarm) or Brisbane (Meanjin)

Employment type: Permanent Full Time commencing as soon as possible

Salary: $88,809 - $101,607 per annum plus superannuation (12.5%).

Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week (1.0 FTE)

What you’ll bring

Commitment to upholding AMCS’ values and a passion for protecting our oceans and marine life.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in developing and implementing successful communications strategies, ideally within campaigning, advocacy or not-for-profit environments.
  • Proven experience in direct marketing through CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Marketing Cloud).
  • Demonstrated ability to secure media coverage by pitching proactively and reacting rapidly to breaking news opportunities.
  • Strong digital communications skills, including experience with social media management, website content publishing (e.g. WordPress), and coordination of multimedia production.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce engaging content and campaign collateral that communicates complex messages clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
